As a filmmaking consultant, I offer a range of services designed to elevate the creative and technical aspects of film projects. Drawing from my extensive background in anthropology, international politics, economics, and human rights, I bring a unique perspective that goes beyond traditional consulting.

Specialising in script development, I provide in-depth analysis and feedback to enhance the narrative structure, character development, and overall storytelling elements of scripts. I help in assessing story’s potential interest and visual appeal. Help structure your character-driven, topic-style or hybrid documentary, and maximise the dramatic potential of your film. I craft Character Transformation throughout your documentary. I assist in scenes writing and help writing or reviewing your pitch, log line, short synopsis, and treatment.

Cross-Cultural Expertise

Having worked extensively with Aboriginal communities, my consultancy extends beyond technical aspects. I bring cross-cultural knowledge and sensitivity, fostering authentic storytelling that respects and reflects the diversity of human experiences.

Distribution plan and film market consultancy

Suggest strategies for delivering exposition when in front of potential buyers and distributors. Help in preparing distribution materials for festivals and markets. Assessment of theme and potential market. Draft a distribution plan and identify potential audiences.

Shooting and Set support

I offer personal consultancy on film sets, leveraging my technical expertise and experience with various cameras, including Canon C300, RED Cameras, BlackMagic, and GoPros. My goal is to ensure that the visual aspects align with the creative vision of the project. I help you with interview tips, including techniques to elicit Protagonist’s Statement of Transformation. I identify and troubleshoot specific storytelling problems. I evaluate the production values of key footage and I can analyse the structure, starting with the inciting incident and climax scenes. I also assist in shots planning.

Pitching Consultancy

Help craft an elevator pitch, log line, short synopsis, and one-sheet (a film-industry documentary that explains your film’s concept). Suggest strategies for delivering exposition when pitching your project. How to find and apply to a Pitching Forum or run a successful Crowdfunding campaign. Ensuring your pitch document and taster film presents your story with impact. Evaluate and refine your documentary concept for timeliness, interest, affordability, visual appeal, etc.

Environmental and Human Rights Filmmaking

For filmmakers interested in addressing environmental or human rights issues, I provide specialised guidance on navigating the complexities of these subjects, ensuring responsible and impactful storytelling.

Post production Support

With proficiency in Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere Pro, and other relevant software, I provide comprehensive post-production support. This includes editing, color grading, and the integration of visual elements to achieve the desired cinematic impact. Having been a musician for over 16 years, I advise on music selection to elevate the cut and emphasise key moments. I can also help the editing a fundraising or theatrical trailer. I can give stylistic recommendations for improving the visual appeal of your film and tips and coaching on how to record Voice Overs. I can assist in shots selection.

Film festival Distribution consultancy

Suggest strategies for film festivals applications and participation. Prepare your film to be festival-ready and appealing to festival curators.

Documentary Bootcamp Italy*

The two-week course will take place on the beautiful island of Sardinia, located off the coast of Italy in the world-renowned holiday destination of Costa Smeralda. Students will have the opportunity to learn from three of Europe’s most accomplished documentary filmmakers, who will guide them through the entire process. Throughout the course, students will gain knowledge on how to create a compelling documentary film, from the initial idea to the final delivery and exhibition. They will be provided with examples and insights into the filmmaking process, gleaned from the teachers’ extensive experience creating award-winning documentaries.
